About Katla the Proprietor and her Family
In January 1987, we took a step that changed our lives forever; we were persuaded by friends with whom we played fantasy role playing games (Dungeons & Dragons and the like), to join the Vikings re-enactment society (or NFPS as it was then) as part of the Canterbury group; before moving on after a couple of years, to be among the founder members of another Kent group, Aescinga.
Following the Battle of Hastings October 1995 event, we took a few years out to bring up our two daughters, move jobs etc, rejoining the Vikings in the spring of 2001 as part of the Hampshire based Manareafan Herred with whom we are currently active.
We are also involved with the Ynglingas group which carries out Anglian period work at the reconstructed Anglo-Saxon Village at West Stow Country Park near Bury St Edmunds.
Katla has given up her job as a chef to pursue this and other migration & viking age projects.
Sigurd still has a day job as a Project Manager for Peek Traffic, as well as being Webmaster for this site.
Our two daughters attend Kings School in Winchester.
We all live in a little village just outside the city of Winchester in Hampshire, England.
