Ibattles - Bringing Englands Past to Life
Based in York, UK, ibattles produce audio docu-dramas, bringing to life the battles of Englands past. Using local researchers, actors and musicians, our aim is to both educate and entertain, with a focus on creating programmes which appeal to all age groups.
Our first release, 'Englands Lost Battle - Fulford 1066', is a 90 minute epic telling the dramatic story of the third battle of 1066. Fought just outside York, this battle was the culmination of a deadly feud between the earls of Mercia and Northumbria, and the Kings own brother, Tostig Godwinson. Travelling around Europe, Tostig managed to recruit the most feared warrior in Christendom to stand with him - Harald Hardrada, King of Norway. The resulting battle would have dramatic consequences on the coming battles of Stamford Bridge and Hastings, resulting in the death of Anglo Saxon England.
Englands Lost Battle - Fulford 1066
1066 - The most famous year in English history. The year of the battle of Hastings, and of Stamford Bridge - events which saw the death of Anglo Saxon England. Strange then that so little is known of the third battle that took place that year, a battle which preceeded the other two, and remains to this day the largest shield wall battle in history - the battle of Fulford, just outside York.
‘Englands Lost Battle’ is a 90 minute dramatised account of the events surrounding this great conflict. Presented on double audio CD, and featuring local actors, researchers and musicians, we aim to bring to life this forgotten chapter in English history.
Learn of the intrigue, murder and foul deeds that surrounded the English monarchy; of the great Viking invasion fleet and of the most feared Viking warrior of all time - Harald Hardrada. Designed to appeal to all age groups, ‘Englands Lost Battle’ is available to order below.
